Statement of Faith
There is only one true God who existed in eternity, exists now, and always will exist. He is all- powerful, all knowing, and exists everywhere. It is impossible to consider anything before him, to compare anything or anyone with him, or to imagine that he will not succeed in fulfilling his word and promises. Though many try, no one has successfully challenged his claims. If we could understand him, God would not be God and would not be worthy of my worship.
Jesus of Nazareth, who existed in unity with the Father from eternity, is the second person of the Triune God; a true human being conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of a virgin named Mary about the year 1 BC. Even though he is the Word of Creation, I believe Jesus of Nazareth died by crucifixion to make payment in full for the sins of every person born into this world. I believe Jesus physically rose from the dead, was seen by, and interacted with, many eyewitnesses. In the sight of many, he ascended into heaven where he is currently seated in majesty, power and authority alongside the Father preparing to return to judge the world and destroy it completely for neither he, nor we, will have further need of it.
The Holy Spirit, the third person of the Triune God, moves like the wind anywhere and everywhere to teach and confirm the good news of redemption won through the blood and sacrifice of Jesus Christ. His tools are the Word of God and the sacraments of Baptism and the Holy Supper of his body and blood. His visible agents are humans who know and trust in Jesus Christ as their Savior.
The sixty-six canonical books of the Bible as originally written are inspired of God, hence free from error. They constitute the only infallible guide in faith and practice.
